Sunday, Aug.3 LAT

Here are the answers for yesterday's clues:

Shivering | iced | cubes (4)
[anagram] [ICED] = [DICE]

Arizona | is in | able | fire condition (6)
[AZ] [inside] [ABLE] = [ABLAZE]

Melvin | stood up | against | a prime-time soap opera, briefly (7)
[MEL] [ROSE] [=] [MELROSE {place}]

Anorexic doll | needs to | debar Beiber | in secret (6)
[BARBIE] [=] [deBAR BEIber] [hidden]

Somewhere in Davy Crockett's place for conversation in the past on a train heading back (11)
[CHATTANOOGA] [=] [CHAT] {[AGO] [ON A] [Train] [initial]} [reversed]

My apologies for poor proofing that last direct. "Danial Boone's place" would have been for the entire state of Kentucky. CHATTANOOGA should have been "Somewhere in Davy Crockett's place".

Four fairly easy ones from today's LAT, a charade with an abbreviation, a double definition, a homophone, and a subtraction:

Good girl is in spectacles (5)

Naughty pharaoh (3)

He rose to speak to champions (6)

Nerves caused T-cell to abandon particle (6)

This one, with the answer from the same source, you might find more difficult:

Significant, constant pain affects? Foot in mouth an awful lot? (3,3)

  1. Um, you have to spell BIEBER correctly for the hidden word thing to work :)
