I want to acknowledge thanks to William Ernest "Bill" Butler. His daily crossword blogs (the WEB ones in the link list right) are the source for the grids I post here daily.
Today's Cryptic clues include acrostic, anagram, charade, hidden, and ?.
Two from LAT:

Even retroaction can be an inspiration (5)

Three from Seattle Times:

The only feedback I got on including the answers hidden yesterday was negative, so for now that's dead.

  2. NC: Thanks for your analysis. It does help when I get feedback!
The trick used in L2 is one I've seen so often before it's old hat to me, but guess you're used to different techniques.
Judging by your comments, you got S3 and maybe S2 wrong. I can't imagine what you thought they were, but that numeration of (5,2,6) is correct, tho some might show it as (5,2.,6).
