LAT1: Cotton to advice from a frequent Star Trek villain (1-3)
ReplyDeleteI’m a Trekkie, so no problem there. The villain shares his name with a great evening radio show played on my local public radio, and elsewhere presumably.
LAT2: Rolling stop on a dot (4)
The California clue! And somewhere to park the car! I got caught once doing it on camera, leading to a $400 donation to the State’s coffers.
LAT3: Golfers' concerns! (4)
Fore? Pars? (Ryder) Cups? No! I am also a golfer, so this clue did not lay me low. I tell the truth!
ST1: Square off on the canvas or hold the canvas square (4)
Double definition. This was the trickiest, but I got it in the end. Very elegant. Interesting that the grid also contains “yard”, which is another name for the second definition.
Search in C.S. Lewis, you'll find he killed off a lot of characters (4)
Rather elaborate but elegant hidden clue. Not sure you should use a noun for the definition.

In re my last clue from yesterday:
ReplyDeleteST: Doctor will be caught in three dimensions (7)
Comment: SPATIAL seems a good fit for a direct, but I can't see any doctor or trap or anagram
Response: SPATIAL is correct. It sounds like SPAY SH'L/SHALL = Doctor will
"caught" is the pointer to "sounds like".
